Newly reorganized Polish
Piano Teachers Association, member of EPTA,
together with the International Federation of Chopin Societies
and the Foundation of International Chopin Festivals
in Duszniki-Zdrój
are proud to announce
THE FIRST
INTERNATIONAL FREDERIC CHOPIN MAZURKA COMPETITION
to be held in
March
24-25 (Elinination Round, video contest)
– May
19-25 2007
(Public
Auditions)
under auspices of the National Frederic Chopin Institute
THE COMPETITION HAS BEEN CANCELED
DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS FROM
THE Frederic Chopin OPERATIONAL PROGRAM
THE
PROJECT AWAITS FUNDING
The major goal of the
competition is to expand study of the works
of Frederic Chopin
and to promote
the Mazurka - the most nationalistic of all Polish musical forms.
The contest therefore sets both artistic
and educational aims:
the artistic aim is to observe and
promote the most interesting and stylistically correct interpretations
of the Chopin Mazurkas, while the
educational aim is to familiarize
young pianists with Mazurkas
and to set forth the proper manner of their interpretation through
the verdicts of the jury as well as in accompanying educational events
such as seminars and open master classes.
The Competition in 2007 will be open to pianists born no earlier
than
May 31, 1986.
The Competition will be composed of the
Elimination Round, based on the assessment
of submitted video recordings (DVD), and the Preliminary and the Final
Rounds
which are both public auditions.
The Elimination Round
will take place on March
24-25, 2007 in Warsaw;
the Preliminary and Final Rounds will be held on May 19-26, 2007
in Duszniki-Zdrój,
Poland.
